So for all the DIY-ers out there, we’ve written this post to help you begin to see results from your website. Afterall, there are many companies looking for what you have.

Taking action on what’s laid out below is what will get your business to come up in search engine results so that you can start driving qualified leads to your website. And like many other things in life, it’s simple. However, just because it’s simple doesn’t mean that it’s easy.

There’s a Formula to Coming up in Search Engine Results

While no website or business is created alike, and although it will take some time and dedication, the advice offered below is fail-proof WHEN you follow through.

We realize that search engine optimization (SEO) has a reputation for being complex. However, over 80% of success with SEO is due to posting unique content that helps your website visitors get from where they are to where they want to be. Your potential customers are looking to get for a solution to their problems — and they’re looking outside of their company for another business for various reasons.

Now — more than at any other time in our history — people look online to start their research about a business issue that needs to be solved. They type in a keyword phrase and begin to see if there are businesses out there can help them to alleviate the specific “pain” that they’re feeling around a particular need.

Since your logistics company is the answer many of the growing pains that businesses go through, why not make sure that you are properly positioned when they decide to do their research?

Make a Significant Impact

If you’re wondering why most companies nowadays have a blog, it’s because consistently adding new content to a website has a significant, positive effect on a business’ online presence. Each time a piece of fresh content is added to a website, search engines are notified. Fresh content signifies that a particular website (or the business it represents) is conscientious and cares about the information that it’s providing for public consumption. Search engines, in turn, reward websites by ranking them high in search engine result pages.

The key point that we want to make here is that search engines, especially Google, only rank websites that contain content that will be of value to their users. The more valuable content that you have to share with your audience, the higher your company will rank in search engine results.

What Type of Content Should We Write?

This begs the question: What should businesses write about in their blog?

Answer: Anything and everything that pertains to their business and helps to answer their customers’ FAQs or business “pain points”.

In other words, when your customers come in and ask questions or ask you to solve a problem that they have, write those questions or problems down and then expand on them in the form of a blog post. This is the simplest and most effective way to begin to get your website ranked.

Although writing even one blog post will have a positive effect, please be patient as it takes anywhere from 30 to 90 days — depending on the age and domain authority of your website — to see your website appear in search results, but you’ll likely need more time to get into the top 10 results.

Small Businesses Can Outrank Big Businesses Online

Last, but not least, I’m going to leave you with a bit of inspiration. Don’t be discouraged if you’re a small- to medium-sized business trying to get noticed online, know that you can absolutely outrank your larger counterparts. But don’t take our word for it. Matt Cutts, one of Google’s spokespeople, recently discussed this in the video below:

Due to the fact that Google ranks web pages, not websites, its algorithm is seeks to match the best, most relevant web pages to user’s search queries. In other words, in the eyes of search engines, it doesn’t matter if your business is big or small. Focus on quality, and your website will be rewarded!

As Matt Cutts mentions in the video above, “The smaller guys absolutely can [outperform] the larger guys as long as they do a really good job at it.” By focusing on a specific area, being creative with your ideas, and delivering user experience and value, you can transform your site into a larger online presence.

Be optimistic about your capabilities, and figure out what you can do, as a smaller company, that the billion-dollar company websites can’t. Don’t give up trying to produce stellar content. Superior content is what will help your site rank better in the long run.

You see, even without hiring a marketing firm, there’s something valuable that you can do to help your business appear in search results.
