Improve Your Website’s Bounce Rate

Bounce rate is a factor used by Google to determine how long visitors are staying on a particular website.

It is important to look at bounce rate stats from a business perspective. Bounce rate numbers can be extremely helpful in determining why sales are not converting. The following are just a few of the reasons why folks may be leaving your website quickly:

1.) You are marketing to the wrong group of people online – If people are finding your website on the search engines, clicking on it, then quickly clicking away, this is likely indicative that they did not find what they were looking for. In this case, a re-evaluation of your online market in the form of keyword research, competitor research and more clearly defined target personas is likely necessary.

2.) Site load time – If your website is loading slowly, people may be not have time to wait to get the information that they were looking for and click away for result number 2, 3 or 4. The Internet contains a wealth of information and therefore its important to remain competitive by making sure that your website is search engine compatible. If your Web site has not been updated in some time, see a skilled Webmaster that can make the necessary technical adjustments.

3.) Navigation – This also deals with the structure of your website. Make sure that it’s user-friendly by asking peers or colleagues to take a look at the site prior to making it public.

4.) Not using relevant tags – One of the reasons that website owners have a high bounce rate is because they are not using relevant meta-tags when they write posts on their site. As a result, users that find the website on Google expect something different than they actually find when clicking on the website. Tag relevancy is of utmost importance when marketing a website online.
