Here you go – 9 Powerful Tips Straight From the Mouths of Expert Bloggers!
Of course, to start this post off, we want to reiterate how important and utterly powerful it is to decide on your buyer persona before writing anything. Doing this, in and of itself, is what is going to start you off on the right foot. If you’re talking to a specific audience (and you should be) your posts will be more impactful and the likelihood that they will be seen by the right audience will be increased.
If you haven’t created buyer personas for your business yet, be sure to download this Persona Profile Checklist and this Buyer Persona Development Worksheet so that you can get started.
Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox now and give you the goods 😉
The Top 9 Most Powerful blog Promotion Tactics:
1.) Help your Audience! – Your business is either selling a product or a service. And therefore, you help people out in some way. Share helpful tips by discussing topics that relate to your business and would be of value to your buyer persona.
a.) Appeal to Journalists – A powerful part of your audience is the journalist population. By staying on top of current news articles that relate to your business and then writing blog posts that share your point of view and have your buyer persona in mind, chances are that journalists gathering research for future stories on this topic may find it, pick it up, and then quote part of what you’ve said in a widely-read news site, blog or magazine. Score!! 😛
b.) Quote Experts – Similarly, finding quotes by experts that write for large online publications that can back up what you’re writing about — and linking back to the original quote — is a great way to add weight to your blog post and may even inspire the person you quoted to comment on your post!
2.) Are People Searching for What You’re Writing About? – Make sure that they are by doing keyword research ahead of time. Write about a topic that people are curious about, and be the ANSWER to their problem or question. After all, you are a thought-leader when it comes to the topics that pertain to your business!
3.) Take & Use Your Own Photos! – As tempting and convenient as it is to use stock photos (guilty!), if you can, take the time to take your own photos. Add comments or statements to them with text. People will notice and will appreciate the originality.
4.) Talk with People, Get to Know Them – Your content promotion efforts will go much further if they feel that they know, like and trust you first. Choose whichever way you’d like to do this – via networking groups, by making videos with you as the star, in online hangouts, or simply by striking up conversations in social media groups.
Once people start liking and trusting you, they’ll be more apt to consume the content that you’re sharing. Soon enough, they’ll anticipate your next posts and will share your content with others. Be sure to share the love by reciprocating!
5.) KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE! 🙂 Please defer to my opening comments for this one. Buyer personas are the foundation of any successful marketing campaign. Without them, you may be wasting your time.
6.) Let People Know That You’re Talking About Them! It’s a compliment to mention a fellow writer by sharing a quote. Let them know by sending a personal e-mail. If you’re writing about similar topics, why wouldn’t they subscribe to your newsletter or blog?
7.) Target Your Distribution – Send your post to people that would like it! Be it competitors (TIP: Make sure it’s better than the content they’ve published!), influencers that you’ve mentioned (they’ll be flattered) or specific targets that have already expressed interest in the product or service you’re writing about.
8.) SOCIAL MEDIA – This one is the most talked about for blog promotion, but did you know?:
- Timing is Important. Each social media platform audience is different and paying attention to the times that you post content can pay off in spades.
- How long did it take you to create that piece of content? 3 hours? 1.5 days? 2 weeks? Reward yourself for all of the effort by sharing it in as many places of possible….more than once!
- Pinterest Rich Pins for Business – who knew?! – Bloggers, you may not think that Pinterest is for you, but it is. Rich Pins are “a must” for bloggers – says Peg Fitzpatrick, Social Strategy Head, Canva.
- Bring older content back to life! If it’s still valuable and has the potential to help more people, why not? If it needs a refresher, make the necessary changes and then re-publish and share it with your followers.
9.) Go For It! – Everyone has to start somewhere. What you have to say is valuable. People want to hear it. Get out there and share what you know – someone will undoubtedly benefit from it!
